Version 1.0.1 is out for Mac. Windows is next.

Your computer, one message away.

FarFromDesk runs on your laptop and links it to your own WhatsApp or Telegram chat. Drive any app, steer your coding agents, answer their permission requests and run your day, from wherever you are.

Powered by Meta Muse. Free for Mac today, Windows next, then Linux.

Example request with sample session names.

Runs on your computer. FarFromDesk is a desktop app, not a cloud service. It works with the apps and agents already on your machine.

Powered by Meta Muse. Atlas, the brain, runs on the Meta Model API. Everything except the brain works without a Meta key.

Free for Mac today. Windows comes next, then Linux. The source is open under AGPL-3.0.

Your whole laptop, from your phone.

Text your computer like a friend. FarFromDesk does the work there and sends the result back to the same chat.

Drive any app.

Open apps and browser tabs, click, type, fill in forms and attach files. A screenshot comes back as proof.

Every coding agent.

Coordinators for Codex, Claude, Muse Code, DeepSeek Harness and Cursor. Detect apps sets them up with one click.

Approve from your phone.

When an agent asks to run a command, the request reaches your chat. Reply yes and the work keeps going.

A brain that routes.

Atlas, built on Meta Muse, sends each message to the right agent or tool. Collaboration rules decide who does what, like "Codex plans, Claude codes".

Memory with undo.

Atlas remembers what to call you and how you like replies. Every memory change shows in the Brain page, and you can undo it.

Social posts, drafted.

Turn an idea into captions with images made by Meta. FarFromDesk fills in the post in your browser and waits for your OK.

Notes, calendar, reminders.

Add a note, check your day, book an event or set a reminder that repeats, all by message.

Voice notes.

Hands full? Send a voice note. It is transcribed on your computer, or by Meta if you choose, and handled like text.

Lid closed. Still working.

On Mac, server mode keeps tasks running with the lid closed, plugged in or on battery. Your phone asks before the battery runs too low.

Set up once, in three steps.

Most of the work happens in the app on your computer. After that, you can run things from WhatsApp or Telegram. Some permission prompts still need you at the computer.

  1. 1

    Download and open FarFromDesk.

Install it on the computer where your apps and coding agents run. The Mac version is ready today. To drive apps, allow Accessibility and Screen Recording.

  2. 3

    Detect your apps.

One click finds Codex, Claude, Muse Code, DeepSeek Harness and Cursor and sets up a coordinator for each. Add a Meta Model API key in Brain to turn on Atlas.

What it looks like in your chat.

Five everyday moments, written the way the app replies. Session names are examples.

01Use an app

Open Chrome, fill in the signup form on the open tab and attach my CV from Downloads.

Atlas

On it. Opening Chrome now.

AtlasScreenshot.png

Done. Name, email and phone are filled in, and CV.pdf is attached. I did not press Submit.

Drive any app on your computer.

Atlas opens apps and tabs, clicks, types and attaches files, then sends a screenshot as proof.

Needs Accessibility and Screen Recording permission on your Mac.

02Ask for an update

What's the status on the checkout fix and the API cleanup?

Atlas

Asking both sessions now.

Checkout fix

Done. All 48 cart tests pass. Branch fix/coupon-rounding is ready.

API cleanup

About halfway. Updating the /orders tests next.

Ask how the work is going.

Atlas asks the sessions you mean, and each one answers in its own name.

03Send a voice note

0:06
Atlas

Heard: "Remind me at six to call the bank." Reminder set for 18:00 today.

Talk instead of typing.

Voice notes are transcribed on your computer, or by Meta if you choose, then handled like any message.

Audio still travels through WhatsApp or Telegram. The text then goes to the agent or tool that handles it.

04Answer a permission request

API cleanup

Permission needed
Run npm test -- orders
Expires in 15 minutes.

API cleanupPermission needed: Run npm test -- orders

Yes, allow it

API cleanup

Orders tests pass. Nothing else was run.

Say yes or no from anywhere.

Reply to the permission message. Each answer covers one request and expires in 15 minutes.

Works for supported native requests when trusted hooks are active. If it is unclear which request you mean, FarFromDesk asks you to reply to the right permission message.

05Draft a social post

Draft a LinkedIn post about today's release, with an image.

Atlasrelease-image.png

Caption and image are ready, and the post is filled in on LinkedIn. Reply "post it" when you're happy.

Posts, written and illustrated.

Captions come with images made by Meta. Nothing is published until you say so.

Your coding agents, with a manager.

Codex, Claude, Muse Code, DeepSeek Harness and Cursor each get their own coordinator. Atlas reads every message and sends it to the right one, and your Collaboration rules say who does what.

"Plan the invoice export."
Atlas
CodexRule: plans and reviewsPicked
Invoice export planning
ClaudeRule: writes the code
API cleanup
CursorWhen you name it
Styles cleanup

Your rule says Codex plans, so Atlas sends planning work to Codex.

Works with the tools you already use.

FarFromDesk connects to your existing apps and accounts. It doesn't include model access or get around provider limits.

Codex

The Codex app or Codex CLI, installed and signed in.

Talk to it directly with /codex.

Claude

Claude Desktop or the Claude Code CLI, signed in.

Starting a new Desktop chat may need your click on the computer.

Muse Code

Muse Code, installed and signed in.

Talk to it directly with /muse.

DeepSeek Harness

DeepSeek Harness, with its key in its own settings.

Talk to it directly with /deepseek.

Cursor

Cursor installed. Command runs need cursor-agent signed in.

Talk to it directly with /cursor.

Mac is available now and tested, on macOS 14+ with Apple Silicon or Intel. Windows comes next, then Linux. Testing builds for both are on GitHub, but only Mac is tested today. Keep your computer on and online. Atlas needs a Meta Model API key, and everything else works without one.

Local by design, with clear limits.

Kept on your computer.

Keys, memory, screenshots and voice transcripts are stored locally. There is no FarFromDesk cloud account.

Only you are in control.

Only your paired WhatsApp account or confirmed Telegram account can send requests. Social posts are never published without your OK.

You choose what reaches Meta.

When Atlas is on, your message, recent chat and memory go to the Meta Model API. Messages still travel through WhatsApp or Telegram and your coding provider.

Download FarFromDesk.

Free for Mac today. Voice transcription tools are included, and you don't need a GitHub account to download.

Questions before you step away.

What exactly is FarFromDesk?

A desktop app that links your computer to your own WhatsApp or Telegram chat. Send a message or a voice note, and Atlas, the brain built on Meta Muse, sends it to the right place: a coding agent, an app on your computer, your notes and calendar, or the Social page. Replies come back to the same chat.

Is it free?

Yes. FarFromDesk is free, and the source is open under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 (AGPL-3.0). It was built for the Meta hackathon. You bring your own coding apps and accounts.

Do I need a Meta key?

Only for the brain. Atlas runs on Meta Muse through the Meta Model API, so routing needs your Meta Model API key. Everything else works without one: your coding agents, app control, notes, reminders, local voice transcription and server mode. With a key, Meta can also make your post images and transcribe voice notes.

Does my computer need to stay on?

Yes. FarFromDesk runs on your computer, so it must stay on and online. On Mac, server mode keeps tasks running with the lid closed or the screen locked, plugged in or on battery above 15%. Below that your phone asks whether to keep going, and below 5% the Mac always sleeps normally. Server mode does not override manual sleep or shutdown.

Which coding agents does it work with?

Codex, Claude, Muse Code, DeepSeek Harness and Cursor. Detect apps finds the ones you have and sets up a coordinator for each with one click. Each agent keeps its own context, sign-in and permissions.

Can I use several coding sessions?

Yes. Ask "Show my recent sessions", then say which to use, for example "Use Checkout fix". Quote a session's reply to talk to that session directly.

Can I approve an action from my phone?

Supported native permission requests can be answered by replying to the permission message with "Yes, allow it" or "No, deny it" when the integration's trusted hooks are active. If FarFromDesk can't tell which request you mean, it asks you to reply to the right message. Each answer covers one request, expires after 15 minutes and does not override native policy. Some actions still need you at the computer.

Can it really use my apps?

Yes, once you allow Accessibility and Screen Recording on your Mac. Atlas can open apps and browser tabs, read the screen, click, type, fill in forms and attach files, then send you a screenshot of the result.

Can it start new Claude Desktop sessions on its own?

Not fully. When a coordinator starts a new Claude Desktop chat, Claude may show a proposal on your computer for you to Start, and FarFromDesk confirms the chat before sending work. Messages to existing sessions and Claude Code CLI sessions don't need this.

What about Windows and Linux?

FarFromDesk is built for every desktop. Windows comes next, then Linux. Testing builds are already on GitHub Releases, but only the Mac version is tested today.

Is this an official WhatsApp, Telegram, Meta, OpenAI or Anthropic app?

No. FarFromDesk is an independent Codecy Labs product that uses the Meta Model API. It uses an unofficial linked-device connection for WhatsApp, the official Telegram Bot API and native coding integrations. Compatibility can change when those services change.
